The halt of nuclear power plants that troubled businesses

When the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster occurred due to the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, and the government halted all nuclear power plants nationwide, we, who run small and medium-sized enterprises in Satsumasendai City, faced a significant crisis regarding whether we could continue our management. Satsumasendai City, which hosts the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant, used to welcome about 5,000 nuclear-related personnel every year, but when the nuclear power plants were halted, the city became desolate as if the lights had gone out. Hotels, restaurants, and the taxi industry lost customers, and it was as if the cuckoo of the quiet was singing... Furthermore, due to soaring electricity prices, costs increased, putting pressure on corporate management. In particular, in the manufacturing industry, which uses a large amount of electricity, many companies were forced to restructure their employees due to significant cost increases, and many went bankrupt without being able to hold on. I heard more and more from business partners and fellow managers about their dire situations, saying, 'We can't keep going anymore...' and 'Our business is over.'

Because I was learning about politics and economics at Happy Science, I realized that the government's judgment was wrong and that severe adversity would eventually come to small and medium-sized enterprises, so I thought I had to prepare.

The fixed idea that 'nuclear power = evil'

At that time, President Okawa open_in_new continued to sound the alarm against the Kan administration, which was blindly pushing for the halt of nuclear power, stating, 'The abandonment of nuclear power will have a negative impact on the Japanese economy.' Furthermore, it was foreseen that the halt of nuclear power would lead to a crisis in national defense.

Now, reports of China's maritime expansion and base construction have begun to emerge, and the crisis of sea lane blockades is starting to be recognized. However, at that time, such dangers were hardly reported on television or in newspapers. I believed that promoting nuclear power while enhancing its safety was the way to save Japan, so I visited the homes of work-related people and locals to convey the necessity of restarting nuclear power. However, the responses I received were mostly along the lines of, 'I'm scared it will be like Fukushima' and 'What about radiation!' Many people lost their lives due to the earthquake and tsunami during the Great East Japan Earthquake, but no one died from radiation from the nuclear power plants. In reality, the radiation levels in Fukushima were at a level that did not cause health damage. However, due to the excessive fear of radiation fueled by media reports, anxiety spread in our local area, and the fixed idea that 'nuclear power = evil' was instilled.

The consumption tax hike that hit businesses hard

Another issue is the consumption tax hike. Since founding the Happiness Realization Party open_in_new in 2009, President Okawa has pointed out that the consumption tax hike would lead to further economic stagnation.

For us, building a house worth 20 million yen incurs an additional 1.6 million yen in consumption tax, and for a 30 million yen house, it adds 2.4 million yen. With this, there is no way to increase consumer desire. Moreover, housewives say, 'When I check out at the register, it ends up being unexpectedly expensive, so I hold back on buying.' Of course. Furthermore, local subcontracting factories lost jobs they had contracted from companies to overseas, leading to a sharp decline in orders. Many factories were forced to close or go bankrupt. It was frustrating to see the government steering the country in a direction that makes the people unhappy, and the feeling that something must be done grew stronger.

Relying on President Okawa's foresight

President Okawa continues to send out teachings and proposals necessary for the future of Japan and the world regarding energy issues, economic policies, national defense, and historical awareness, which serve as guidelines for the policies of the Happiness Realization Party open_in_new. Many of these are ahead of the curve, predicting events months or years in advance, so they may not be understood immediately, but as two or three years pass, it has become clear to everyone that the world is moving as President Okawa indicated. The Sendai Nuclear Power Plant was restarted in 2015. Now, Satsumasendai City is regaining its vitality. The other day, when I tried to make a reservation for our company's year-end party, all the hotels were fully booked. This was something unimaginable during the halt of nuclear power. Whenever I meet with business partners, I always talk about the Happiness Realization Party, so I sometimes get asked, 'Why are you so passionate about it?' That's because I am convinced that President Okawa's teachings of the heart and his teachings on politics and economics will improve the world. I have personally overcome life's hardships and management crises by learning and practicing President Okawa's teachings, so even if it is not understood at first, I believe and continue to convey, 'This teaching will truly make the other person happy.' The other day, the president of a clothing company I work with said,
'I have been watching your activities for years, and you are really doing the right thing. I will fully support you while I am still alive.'

I want to spread this in the community

In the Satsumasendai City Council election last October, Mr. Isao Matsuzawa open_in_new of the Happiness Realization Party ran for office. The other day, I was invited to a meeting of a related company, and when I visited with Councilor Matsuzawa, I learned many points that need improvement in local administration. As the president of the 'Matsuzawa Isao Support Association,' I felt a surge of pride.
Although nuclear power has been restarted, Japan still faces various pressing issues. I also wish to contribute, albeit modestly, to solving these problems while nurturing the young people who will carry the future, gathering young employees and local youth to hold study sessions on politics. In the future, I would like to continue conveying the policies of the Happiness Realization Party in pursuit of a society where many people can live happily.
