I want to make it a hair salon that spreads happiness!

Introducing the experience of a female entrepreneur who decided to open a hair salon against her parents' opposition, and the accompanying management anxieties. "When I stood at a crossroads in life, the words of President Okawa were always in my heart," she says.

President Okawa's messages always pushed me forward

Following my parents' wishes to become a hairdresser

My parents, who ran a hair salon, always told me, their eldest daughter, "You will inherit this shop." Following their wishes, I graduated from high school and got a job at a major hair salon to hone my skills. While attending a correspondence beauty school, I obtained my qualifications. It was a busy workplace, but I felt a sense of fulfillment with my regular customers, and every day was enjoyable. During that time, I married my husband, who had been friends with my family. I returned to Iwate Prefecture to inherit the family business as my parents wished.

I want to develop it further

However, when I started helping at my family home, I felt a gap in business thinking and service content compared to my previous job, and I was driven by the impulse to "do bigger work and develop the shop more and more." But my parents, perhaps due to the nature of the Tohoku region, did not agree with my thoughts, thinking of stability. Looking back now, I think there was a parental heart that didn't want to make their daughter suffer. Indeed, there are risks involved in growing a business. Still, the desire to "do what I want" only grew stronger.

I want many people to be happy

Having learned the teachings of Happy Science since my student days, I began to visit the branch whenever I found time, becoming engrossed in the teachings of the heart that capture happiness and success through President Okawa open_in_new's sermons and books. One day, while watching a DVD of a sermon titled "Ultimate Self-Realization," the words "Development exists to supply much love" suddenly struck my heart. At that moment, I was convinced that "I want many more people to be happy. Aiming for development is not wrong!" and I decided to break free from my parents' thoughts and succeed independently with my shop.

Support from my husband

My parents were still worried and opposed my independence, but my husband strongly encouraged me, saying, "You should do it!" and even found a perfect property for the shop. As someone who runs a convenience store, he is my greatest supporter both as a husband and as a business senior. Seeing him rejoice in my independence more than anyone else, I began to take action. However, I had almost no knowledge about financing or management. As I progressed with preparations, my anxieties grew about whether customers would come to the new location and whether I could really manage the business.

Moving forward opens the way

At such times, I found the words "The way opens by moving forward with courage" in President Okawa's book 'The Law of Success' open_in_new. (It's natural to be scared of things you've never done. It's okay! Let's move forward.) Once I made up my mind, I felt calm and began to tackle the preparations for opening one by one. For the business plan, I read the section on "Concentration of Forces" in President Okawa's 'The Law of Constant Victory' open_in_new and decided, "At first, I will run the shop alone, focusing on my strengths. Once I have more staff, I will expand the range of services."

Steadily on the path to success

Finally, when the hair salon opened, I managed human resource development and management alone at first, which was tough, but thanks to that, we expanded the store within two years of opening. We have a high repeat rate, with over 40 new customers each month. The business got on track thanks to the support of my eight staff members and my husband. My parents have also started to watch over me warmly. And above all, during the significant decisions in my life, President Okawa's words always pushed me forward. Even now, I continue to study the management theories of Happy Science. The "greater happiness for more people" that I aim for through development is for our customers to become "beautiful in heart and appearance". Of course, we have Happy Science books in the store. When customers open their hearts to me, I share healing words from the teachings I have learned. The development has just begun. I will not forget the pride of being a business owner learning from Happy Science, and I will continue to do my best!

It is premature to think that everything happening in front of you is only harmful to yourself. Rather, there are times when a path opens when you move forward with courage. I encourage taking courageous actions. At that time, there will probably be no true failures in the real sense. Decision and execution are important. Courage is not something given to you. Courage wells up when you try to act. And in action, it continues to rise and rise, and does not stop. You will probably be surprised, thinking, "I still have this kind of power within me." I would like to conclude this chapter by stating, "The condition for success ultimately lies in courageous actions."
