The Hell You Don't Know
(Last Update: )
What is Hell
What happens to people when they die?
The world of the afterlife, known as Heaven and Hell, exists. In reality, some people return to Heaven after death, while others spend their days in Hell reflecting on their actions.
Have you ever experienced a terrifying nightmare where you were attacked by something with a horrifying appearance or felt like your life was in danger?
In fact, Hell can be said to be a world that is exactly the same as that of such nightmares.
In this article, we will introduce some aspects of what Hell is, what kinds of Hell exist, what kind of thoughts lead to going to Hell, and what one should do to avoid falling into Hell, referencing 'Hell's Equation' and 'The Theory of Lustful Hell - The Spirit Words of the Red Demon of Kusatsu'.

Characteristics of Spirits in Hell
The inhabitants of Hell (the Hell realm) are, of course, no longer physical beings, but they still have a very strong attachment to the earthly world and are unable to purify themselves as souls. In other words, it can be said that the people of this world are not yet fully awakened as spirits.
In fact, when listening to the stories of those in Hell, most do not even realize they are dead.
Some are aware of their death, but the majority do not understand questions like, 'What should we do? Where are we now? What should we accomplish? What went wrong?'
Do you have a 'heart that leads to Hell'?
One common characteristic of Hell spirits is an extremely strong tendency to blame others.
When we break down the feeling of blaming others, we find a strong sense of resentment. The heart that feels resentment or has a victim mentality is very strong. In other words, the thought is, 'The reason I am not happy now is that others have harmed me.' (Omitted)
When looking into one's own heart, if one stands on the side of possessive love and has a very strong feeling of blaming others, one must consider the possibility of going to Hell as quite high. Whether or not one goes to Hell can be understood by questioning one's own heart without needing others to point it out.
If the feeling of blaming others is very strong and occupies a considerable amount of time in one's thoughts throughout the day, then that heart is likely connected to Hell.

How does one go to Hell?
The afterlife is a world where 'the heart is taken out as it is'
When a person dies, their body disappears, and they become a spiritual body called a 'soul.' The soul can be said to be 'the heart itself' of that person.
The world of the afterlife is one where one cannot lie to their own heart. The person's appearance and the environment surrounding them accurately reflect the true state of their heart.
In a word, the characteristics of those who live in Heaven are that they have a pure and unadorned heart, beautiful in its natural state. Those who fill their hearts with foul, dirty, or evil things cannot live in Heaven because of the stench that arises from them.
When your heart is taken out as it is, will it be a heart that resides in Heaven?
Where one goes after death is determined by their state of mind and actions during their lifetime. Let's take a look at how the destination is decided.
In the afterlife, everything in life is projected, even the thoughts in one's heart.
After death, a person is guided by a guiding spirit to the 'entrance of the afterlife.' This is near the famous River Styx. The River Styx is the world that separates Heaven and Hell.
After crossing the River Styx, one is shown their life in a place resembling a movie theater. In the audience are many spirits, including close ones who died before them and jurors. In front of those spirits, everything the person has forgotten and the thoughts they had in their heart are projected on the screen.
'What kind of life did I lead? Who am I?' is thoroughly shown, and based on the evaluation of that life, the destination in the afterlife is determined.
If it is a life blessed by many, they will return to Heaven, but if it is deemed that a little 'reflection' is necessary, they will go to Hell.
Hell is not a place where only criminals go. The way a person lived, what they did, and the state of their heart are evaluated comprehensively, and just as heavier objects sink in water, those with heavier souls 'fall.'
In other words, after death, people go to the world that is appropriate for their state of mind.
Structure of the Hell Realm
In this Hell realm (Hell world), there are various levels corresponding to its vibrations. There are upper levels and lower levels.
Upper Hell Realm - The world where Asura Hell and Lustful Hell, and criminals go
For example, in the relatively upper world, there are Asura Hell, where those who lived centered on conflict and destruction go, and Lustful Hell (Blood Pond Hell), where those who went astray in their relationships with the opposite sex go. There is also a world for those who committed fraud, murder, assault, robbery, and so-called criminals, but the levels differ according to the degree of their actions.
Lowest Level of Hell (1) - The world where those who committed religious and ideological sins go, such as the Avici Hell
At the lowest level of Hell is Avici Hell, where those who misled and drove people insane ideologically or religiously go. The spiritual world considers the sin of 'driving people's hearts insane' to be the greatest sin, even more so than physical mistakes like murder or material-related mistakes. Such a world exists at the lowest level.
Lowest Level of Hell (2) - The world where the demon kings of Hell and Satans reside
Furthermore, there is a demon world that primarily arises from Avici Hell.
This is the world where the demon kings of Hell and Satans reside. Some may say, 'Is there really a demon king or Satan in the modern world?' but it must be said that they do exist. These are the spirits that are the leaders among Hell spirits, akin to a yakuza boss on Earth.
In reality, those who become such figures are often misguided religious leaders or political leaders who have driven people insane.
Those who have been very influential and have strong leadership, in that sense, often go in the wrong direction and become bosses in that world. And if they remain there for over a thousand years, they become demon kings.
Hell is shrouded in the dark thoughts of people, preventing the light of the spiritual sun from shining. From the shallow Hell of a pale ink-colored sky, the deepest part is formed by a world of pitch-black darkness, like flowing tar. It is divided into multiple layers according to the weight of sins.
(経典『地獄に堕ちないための言葉』より)
Types of Hell
Recently, Hell has also modernized, and the Hell that modern people go to has a contemporary appearance.
From here, we will introduce various types of Hell. Does a tendency towards any of these Hells lurk in your heart?
■ Tōkatsu Hell (Equal Living Hell)
Tōkatsu Hell is the shallowest part of Hell, where one goes due to the sin of 'killing living beings' (the sin of taking life). It is a Hell where people kill each other, tearing their bodies apart or smashing them to pieces.
Those who fall into Tōkatsu Hell are chased by jailers like red demons or blue demons, and are crushed with iron staffs or swords, 'dying' in Hell, but when a cool breeze blows from somewhere, all the dead come back to life.
'Tōkatsu' literally means 'to live equally.' Everyone comes back to life equally, and the killing begins again.
Tōkatsu Hell is a terrifying Hell where such things are eternally repeated. This is done to teach how grave a sin it is to kill others.
Reference: 'Considering Faith in Others' 'The Path to Enlightenment'
Tōkatsu Hell exists to teach the sin of killing others.
Thus, it is called Tōkatsu Hell because of the concept of 'living equally again,' and this is repeated eternally. This is done so that the soul thoroughly understands how grave a sin it is to kill others.
(経典『悟りに到る道』より)
Why must one not kill others?

When pursuing the teaching 'Do not kill,' one inevitably arrives at the fundamental questions of 'What is a human? What is life? What is life itself?' At this fundamental level, the significant divide lies in whether or not one acknowledges something that transcends the physical body that appears as a phenomenon.
(経典『愛を与えるということ』より)
■ Hell for Suicide Victims
The hell that suicide victims go to is very similar to the hell of the living. Among suicide victims, there are many who do not even realize that they have died.
For someone who committed suicide by jumping from a building, even after death, they repeatedly go back to the rooftop and jump again and again. They think, "I died in a mess," but after a while, they come back to life and jump from the rooftop again.
For someone who committed suicide by hanging, even after death, they repeatedly hang themselves over and over again. Yet they cannot die, so they possess living people on the ground and make others hang themselves. In the hell that suicide victims go to, they repeatedly experience the moment of death over and over again.
Reference: 'Thinking About Other-Power Faith'
There are also suicide victims who continue to wander on the ground.
The answer is that it is not a case of 'going to hell one hundred percent,' but rather 'often being in hell or a stage before hell.' While some have indeed gone to hell, many are at a stage before hell, not realizing they have died, clinging to the ground, living like those on the ground, or drifting around as earthbound spirits in places where they died.
(経典『大悟の法』より)
Among suicide victims, there are many who are caught up in the people and things of this world, unable to fall into hell.
In cases where one commits suicide as an escape from this world or dies without knowing about the spiritual world, it is very difficult to return to heaven. Furthermore, such people may not accept even if angels come to persuade them.
Those who did not accept persuasion from others in this world will also find it difficult to accept in the afterlife.

■ Hell of Rogues
The hell of rogues is a shallow hell, a dim world like after sunset. As the name suggests, it is inhabited by wayward individuals. Alcoholics and those living a chaotic or broken life, neglecting their families.
This hell is dominated by the fear of not knowing when one's life will be taken.
Those who have the fear that 'everyone wants to harm me' or 'I might die, I might be persecuted' will repeatedly experience the fear of being killed by someone filled with anger in this world.
The characteristic of the hell of rogues is that 'even if killed, one cannot die.' This is true in other hells as well, as there is no actual physical body, so one cannot die.
However, they still think they have a body. When they are cut up, they feel some pain or the sensation of being killed, and think, 'Did I die?' but after a while, they return to their original state.
The hell of rogues is a hell where the fear from before death to the moment of death is repeatedly experienced. This 'fear' is also one element of hell.

■ Hell of Hungry Ghosts(The Path of Hungry Ghosts)
One of the hells that modern people can easily fall into is 'the hell of hungry ghosts.' It is a place where many people appear like skeletons with thin arms, legs, and faces, with only their bellies protruding.
The people in this hell are filled with an insatiable desire.
They crave food as an expression of their desire for something to be given to them, but they are never satisfied. Those who had a strong desire to 'receive from others' or 'snatch away what belongs to others' become like this after death.
They crawl up rocky mountains, starving, and just when they find delicious-looking food and try to put it in their mouths, it turns into gas and bursts into flames, or they crawl around the desert, enduring thirst, and when they finally reach an oasis to drink water, that water evaporates and disappears.
Furthermore, as their temperament becomes more aggressive, some may eat other spirits who have fallen into the same hell of hungry ghosts. However, in the afterlife, there is no actual body, so the one they thought they 'ate' reappears. Even if they think they have escaped and try to eat again, their stomach never becomes full.
Whether there is a feeling of wanting to 'bite into a sweet deal and make it my own.' Whether one's heart is always occupied with an unsatisfied feeling. If you have such thoughts, you will end up in the hell of hungry ghosts after death.
Additionally, in the recent hell of hungry ghosts, there are forms where children have sandwiches, hamburgers, or toys and playthings, which are taken away by large adults.
Food and such are a symbol, representing 'the desire to obtain' and 'the fact that it cannot be obtained.'

■ Hell of Lust(Hell of Blood Ponds)
The 'Hell of Lust' near the Asura Hell is where those who have lived in a significantly wrong way in relationships between men and women go.
This is also the famous 'Hell of Blood Ponds,' where men and women engage in sexual entanglements 'eternally,' but their appearance is very unsightly, resembling many earthworms playing in a muddy rice field. Many people live thinking this is 'the best world.'
When one creates complicated relationships such as infidelity, love triangles, or physical relationships with unspecified others, their hearts become hellish due to jealousy.
This is also one of the hells that modern people can easily fall into, a world where those who have a strong tendency to stray in relationships between men and women go.

The Danger of Having Conflicts with the Opposite Sex Throughout Life
For young people, the desire arises first. They cannot get the opposite sex out of their heads, gradually becoming immersed in the pleasures of sight, sound, and physical sensations, losing the purity of their souls.
And the shallow worldview that 'humans exist only in this world and should live indulgently' begins for some as early as their mid-teens, and they gradually become more and more stained by this worldview. (Omitted)
If this is just a temporary mistake, it is not such a problem, but if it becomes a habit of life and they continue to navigate life with conflicts with the opposite sex even after finishing their student years and becoming a working adult, the place they go in the next life will be a terrifying world.
(経典『信仰告白の時代』より)
The Hell of Blood Ponds still exists. It is where one goes when animalistic instincts prevail, and self-control and true love are defeated.
To avoid going to the Hell of Blood Ponds, it is good to practice 'White Bone Meditation.' Can you love the soul of the other even if they become a white bone?
(経典『地獄に堕ちないための言葉』より)
■ Asura Hell(Asura Path, Asura Realm)
Asura Hell is where those who blame and torment others or constantly speak ill of others go.
Due to their own dissatisfaction, they have the feeling that 'anyway, speaking ill of others or hurting others makes me feel better,' and they continue to speak ill for the sake of speaking ill. People who list the evils of society, government, and others, justifying themselves by blaming their misfortunes on others, as well as those in the media or journalism who hurt others with their words also go to this Asura Hell.
This hell is also populated by many former soldiers and those who killed each other in past wars. However, in modern times, as wars have decreased, they engage in mutual blame.
Eventually, they learn to use bows and arrows in the afterlife and start killing each other, but here too, even if they kill, the other does not die, so they repeat the act of hurting the other 'eternally.' They continue this until they are thoroughly fed up.
Furthermore, as a modern transformation of this hell, hospitals may appear.
In the past, demons would often appear, boiling people in hell's cauldron, crushing them with iron rods, or driving nails into them, but in modern times, hell has changed a bit, and there are places like hospitals within the Asura realm. When brought there, they go to a place like an intensive care unit, where doctors and nurses appear.
The doctors wear masks, but their mouths are slit from ear to ear. The patients scream, 'Stop it!' and struggle, but they are tied to the bed, dissected, and killed.
In Asura Hell, one repeatedly experiences cruel ways of being killed. This is because only fear experiences unfold in the person's mental imagery. They attract what they fear and only see that imagery.

Mistakes of the Heart Manifest as 'Anger'
From the 'Three Poisons of the Heart' of 'Greed, Hatred, and Delusion,' to the 'Six Major Afflictions' of 'Greed, Hatred, Delusion, Pride, Doubt, and Wrong Views,' all of these often manifest as anger in terms of behavior. It is important to know whether, by observing one's daily life, there are many instances of causing disharmony in human relationships due to this anger, leading to conflicts, hurting others, or feeling as if one's own heart has been stabbed.
(経典『アンガー・マネジメント』より)
To avoid going to the Asura Hell
When humans are striving and polishing each other, their hearts are like those of heaven. However, if they forget the heart of polishing each other and go towards hurting one another, they will end up in this world of strife.
At that time, the characteristics of those who possess the heart of strife, or Asura, are that they cannot practice "right listening" and "right speech."
Right listening means listening to others' words correctly. (Omitted)
With right listening, there is also right speech. To speak correctly, it is important to tune the heart before speaking. And the basis for tuning the heart is to listen correctly. Only by listening correctly can one speak correctly. (Omitted)
Therefore, those who have lived in a way that may lead them to the Asura realm, those who get angry easily and have disturbed hearts, I hope they will diligently train in right listening and right speech.
(経典『宗教選択の時代』より)
■ Hell of Flames
There are people who fall not only into Asura Hell but also into a place called "Hell of Flames," where they are burned by flames every day, living a life of anguish and screams.
This is the hell where those who have burned others with the flames of desire, anger, or jealousy go.
Short-tempered people who get angry easily—when they hear something, they immediately get angry, lose their temper, and become uncontrollable. Then, when they come to their senses later, they do not even know what they were doing or why they were angry—there are many such people.
They may explain it by saying, "I am short-tempered," but that will inevitably have a backlash. The flames of anger hurt others and also damage their own essence as children of Buddha.
Reference: "The Era of Religious Choice"
Curing short temper through education
Educated people are not short-tempered. Some may think, "I am short-tempered, but I am educated," but truly educated people are not short-tempered.
The reason educated people cannot be short-tempered is that when there is a gap in education between themselves and others, they cannot engage in arguments.
For example, a school teacher would not feel inclined to seriously fight with a student.
Similarly, educated people cannot speak harshly to those less educated than themselves. They understand that the other person does not understand, so they end up speaking in a way that is easy to understand.
Therefore, "studying more and accumulating knowledge" is one way to cure short temper.
(経典『幸福へのヒント』より)
■ Hell of No Intermission(Lonely Hell, Unconscious Realm)
Among those who speak ill of others, there are extremely influential people who go to what is called "Hell of No Intermission," a very deep hell. They are isolated in a place where they are completely alone and do not meet anyone else.
People like public figures, thinkers, teachers, and founders who have great power and influence over others, and who have misled and driven people mad either ideologically or religiously, do not stop at Asura Hell but go even deeper. They descend not to the first basement but to the second and third basements, going to even deeper places.
The spiritual world considers the sin of "driving people's hearts mad" to be the greatest sin, even more so than physical mistakes like murder or material-related mistakes. This is because such people are far too dangerous.
Once they start to incite others, the negative impact on those around them is significant, so such people fall straight into deeper hells. This can also be said to indicate the heavy weight of their souls.
Furthermore, there is a realm called the demon world that primarily arises from the Hell of No Intermission. This is the world where the demon kings and satans of hell reside. They are the leaders among the spirits of hell, akin to the bosses of yakuza in the earthly realm.
Reference: "Development Thinking" "What is Happy Science?"
Even excellent people can fall into hell depending on their actions in this world
Even highly intelligent and capable people, if they misuse their hearts and live according to their desires for power and ego, mercilessly dragging others down, harshly criticizing others, or leading various people down the wrong path, such as political leaders, academic leaders, and business executives, fall into the deep hell known as "Hell of No Intermission."
(経典『発展思考 〔改訂版〕』より)
■ Hell of Scorching Heat, Hell of Fiery Heat
As the name suggests, in this hell, people’s bodies (or what is perceived as such) are burned by extreme heat.
From a volcanic crater, hot winds of sulfur blow up, and it is unbearably hot, a hell where people are scorched to death. There is also a more intense "Great Hell of Scorching Heat." Men and women, looking like mere bones wrapped in a single piece of cloth around their waists, wander the desert seeking water.
What characterizes this hell is the word "thirst." It is a world where people who have forgotten to give to others, driven by a mountain of desires, think only of what they want to obtain, living their lives consumed by desire.
The hearts of those who have lived with strong material desires, constantly feeling lack and dissatisfaction, create a mental landscape of "a scorching desert with hot winds blowing."
To be saved from the Hell of Scorching Heat, two things must be practiced.
One is to "perform acts of love towards others." The other is to "live each day with a heart that knows contentment, without being swayed by desires."
Reference: 'The Complete Works of Ryuho Okawa' Volume 26 (not for sale)
The law of the real world is that those who give will be given to, and those who take will be taken from.
(経典『地獄に堕ちないための言葉』より)
■ Path of Beasts(Beast Hell)
The people here no longer have human forms. Their faces may be human, but their bodies are various animals such as horses, cows, birds, snakes, or pigs.
Each takes on the form of an animal that matches their own nature. Some may even take on the form of bats flying in the sky, hanging upside down in caves. Those with strong suspicion take on the form of snakes, those who cannot suppress their desires take on the form of dogs, and those who have continued to deceive others take on the form of foxes, creating the Beast Hell.
Those here are people who lived thinking, "It doesn't matter what thoughts I have since the heart cannot be seen from the outside." If their hearts had been transparent when they had bodies, and everything was seen through, they would have been too embarrassed to show themselves in public. When they return to the world beyond, they realize that their hearts are all visible and that they will take on the form of their true hearts, and they are astonished.
Moreover, most of them, after spending hundreds of years in this hell, come to believe that they are that very animal. This is, in fact, the truth of what is called "possession by animal spirits."
Hell spirits who believe themselves to be snakes or foxes possess living humans, causing them suffering. When a spiritualist performs a "phenomenon," spirits that twist like snakes or mimic foxes speak in human language, which is mostly because they are human spirits who have fallen into Beast Hell.
Reference: "The Eternal Law " "The Complete Works of Ryuho Okawa, Volume 26" (not for sale)
Beginning to believe oneself to be an animal
For example, an old woman who was once human takes on the form of a large snake, writhing and sometimes coming to the surface to wrap around the neck or waist of a living human, causing them suffering. That spirit is no longer human. It has transformed into an animal form. (Omitted)
So, why did it take on such a form? It is because, in life, it lost its human-like heart and lived like an animal. Living according to desires is no different from the life of an animal. Therefore, it takes on an animal form to undergo a period of reflection.
(経典『発展思考 〔改訂版〕』より)
When judged to have an extremely strong animal nature, one is then sent to the "Path of Beasts" or "Animal Realm."
In the "Path of Beasts," the body becomes like that of an animal, but sometimes the face may flicker to the face from their human days.
(経典『地獄に堕ちないための言葉』より)
■ Hell of Black Ropes
There is a hell deep down called "Hell of Black Ropes."
Hell of Black Ropes is a hell for those who have committed not only "killing" but also "theft." This means taking what has not been given.
Here, one is laid on a surface like a burning iron plate, marked with black ropes that are as hot as iron, engraved on all sides, and then their body is cut while burning.
Recently, it has become more modern, resembling an operating table in a surgeon's hospital. Even if the form is slightly different, it is still a hell where one is cut or severed by blades.
Moreover, from the ceiling, hot iron ropes hang down, and every time hot winds blow, they burn various parts of the body, creating such a hell.
Reference: "The Path to Enlightenment"
Those who cannot escape from hell
I have talked quite a bit with those who have gone to hell, but they truly cannot reflect. They cannot say, "I am wrong." When I say, "Isn't it you who is wrong?" they react strongly. They react fiercely. They say, "That's not true. I am not wrong," and make excuses endlessly. They absolutely cannot reflect. Unfortunately, after living for decades, their souls become solidified in a state of "being" and cannot change that tendency.
(経典『無限の愛とは何か』より)
■ Hell of Wailing and Screaming, Great Hell of Wailing and Screaming
There is an even deeper hell called "Hell of Wailing and Screaming." Wailing and screaming, in other words, it is a very painful hell. There are degrees to this wailing and screaming, with places called "Hell of Wailing and Screaming" and "Great Hell of Wailing and Screaming."
A typical person who falls into the Great Hell of Wailing and Screaming is one who has committed the "Five Great Sins." The "Five Great Sins" are the following five.
1. Killing one's father.
2. Killing one's mother.
3. Killing a monk who has the qualifications of an Arhat or higher, such as a sister or priest in Christianity, who is training to reach a place close to the Buddha or gods.
4. Harming the Buddha.
5. Causing confusion in the community established by the Buddha.(If one commits any of these, it is called the "sin of destroying the harmonious monkhood").
Anyone who commits any of these five sins will fall into the Great Avici Hell.
In addition to this, those who, while being practitioners, steal, commit robbery or rape, or deceive people by claiming to be enlightened when they are not, also fall into this category.
Those who commit such extremely deep sins enter the Great Avici Hell. Once in, they cannot escape for over a thousand years.
There, all kinds of hellish sufferings exist. Those who enter there are skinned alive, then laid on burning ground, and have molten substances like burning copper or iron poured over their bodies.
After that, their mouths are opened with something like golden scissors, and melted copper-like substances are poured inside, which then come out from the anus, experiencing such terrifying suffering.
Those who have persecuted and devastated religions in the past are placed among such sins. Such hells exist in deep places.
Reference: "The Path to Enlightenment"
When one falls into the Great Avici Hell

When one falls into the Great Avici Hell, they cannot escape for at least a thousand years. It is a hell so terrible that one would not want to see it, akin to being lynched in the crater of a volcano where lava is bubbling. Compared to other hells, it is quite a severe hell. If one were to stay there for a thousand years, they would likely wish to die.
In fact, those who have fallen there say, "I want to die." However, spirits cannot die, so they are helpless. Even if they think, "How nice it would be if my soul could disappear," the suffering of not being able to disappear exists.
(経典『「悟りに到る道」講義』より)
Why hell exists
Some may wonder why God allows hell to continue. However, hell is, in a sense, a punishment, but in another sense, it can also be seen as a hospital. Hellish spirits are indeed like sick people.
The vast majority of people in hell did not believe in God, did not believe in spirits, and did not believe in the afterlife while they were alive. They leave this world without recognizing their own death.
Just as it would be troubling if sick people were immediately exterminated, sick people need to be given the opportunity to recover in a hospital until they regain their health. And even if hospitals were eliminated, sick people would not disappear.
The significance of hell's existence lies in this.
God and the Buddhas wait a long time for the people in hell to reflect and return to heaven. In other words, hell is not merely a punishment or torment, but can be said to be the very mercy given by God.
What is hell like?
The idea that "we should eliminate hell" is akin to the idea that "we should eliminate sick people." It questions whether sick people would disappear if hospitals were bombed to rubble. It also questions whether one thinks, "Sick people are special beings, so they should not be left on earth."
(経典『人生の発見』より)
Basic rules of reincarnation
One cannot be reborn from the hell realm to the surface world.
Here, there is one point that must not be forgotten. That is the fact that "the human soul is reborn on the surface in the form of reincarnation, but it can never be reborn from the hell realm."
This has not been strongly emphasized in traditional religions, and few people may know this. However, one cannot be reborn from the hell realm to the surface.
Hellish spirits trying to possess surface humans
Because they cannot do that, they cause the phenomenon of possession, doing things like "possessing surface humans and causing them suffering."
If they could be reborn from the hell realm to the surface, they could also be born into human bodies and escape the sufferings of hell, but because they cannot, they want to escape the torments of hell and thus engage in actions like "possessing living humans and misleading them."
In any case, those in hell have lived by manifesting thoughts and actions contrary to the Buddha's heart, and in that regard, they are required to reflect deeply.
What can be done now to avoid falling into hell
People do not end when they die.
I have introduced several hells. Again, where does your heart lean, towards heaven or hell?
In fact, many people in hell do not think they are in hell.
In modern times, most people do not believe in the afterlife or do not know what happens after death, so they think, "I have consciousness, so I am still alive. I just ended up in a strange place," and do not even realize they are dead.
"The soul is eternal" means eternal happiness for good people, but for those who have sinned, it is a tremendous torment.
There is various knowledge that is useful in this world, but how much do you know about knowledge that is useful "after death"? To avoid falling into hell, faith in God and the Buddhas and correct spiritual knowledge are necessary.

How to avoid going to hell after death
A way of living that allows one to return to heaven after death
The hell realm is a place inhabited by those who reject light. It is inhabited by those who prefer a dark world. It is similar to how, no matter how strong the rays of the sun are, light does not penetrate into a cave or hole.
During the decades on the surface, having forgotten the truth that they are children of light, children of the Buddha, and children of God, when they return to the other world, the light of the heavenly realm is so dazzling that they cannot find a place to live.
It is required for humans to awaken to their original mission as children of light, to triumph over the trials of this life, and to live in such a way that they are told by their fellow beings of light, "Well done on fulfilling your mission." Such a way of living is what is sought.
(経典『奇跡の法』より)
The torments of hell are, in a sense, also a form of self-blame. The thought of "I have driven many people mad and misled them" is attracting the corresponding reaction, and there exists a hell that embodies this.
This world is a mixed world of heaven and hell. Would you like to learn together the way of living that is required to return to heaven through Happy Science?
