This month's "Guidelines of the Heart" discusses the problems and countermeasures faced by spiritualists. What kind of phenomena occur when influenced by evil spirits? I heard examples from instructor Hitoshi Ozawa, who has received numerous life consultations at the headquarters, Seishinkan.

I have been serving as the deputy leader of the "Evil Spirit Exorcism Prayer" at the headquarters, Seishinkan, for 15 years. This prayer is very powerful, so participants may act out or scream. The evil spirits attached to them are reacting in fear to the light of the deities.

Witnessing such phenomena makes it clear that Seishinkan serves as a "barrier of light."

From consultations with those troubled by spiritual disturbances, I feel that the mental training after the prayer is important. "Possession" occurs when there is a part of the heart that connects with evil spirits, so without changing the heart, there can be no fundamental solution.

To fundamentally remove possession

There is a young woman who became spiritually disturbed due to relationship issues and attempted suicide before converting to Happy Science. To rebuild her life, she became a monk living at Seishinkan and learned the teachings of Ryuho Okawa open_in_new every day.

During repeated meetings with her, who was in despair at the time, I discovered that there was a wound in her heart from childhood. Her father, who had cared for her deeply, passed away when she was nine, leaving her with a lingering sense of loneliness. As a result, when things didn't go well, she would blame others, thinking, "Even though I'm trying so hard, no one understands me," and evil spirits entered there.

After that, she performed memorial services for her father and made efforts to have a "heart of gratitude" towards those around her. Gradually, her heart brightened, and she changed remarkably. I was truly happy to see her looking so joyful.

Every day is a battle with oneself

I, too, engage in "mental training" every day. When my heart is disturbed at work, I reflect on my heart and realize that I have an excessive desire to be recognized by others and a tendency to justify myself. At such times, I strive to cut through my wrong self with the teachings of Buddha. It is indeed a "battle with oneself." With this "Guideline of the Heart" in mind, let us continue to strive together.
