This month's 'Guiding Principles' indicated that 'social intelligence' is not only required in companies and work relationships but is also an important theme that should always be kept in mind as a human being. We asked Mr. Kazuya Watanabe, who is involved in Happy Science's educational projects, for practical tips.

After reading this month's 'Guiding Principles', you may have been surprised to realize how much 'social intelligence' is required.

'Separation of public and private' is generally required as 'social intelligence', but President Ryuho Okawa open_in_new has even referred to aspects such as 'not understanding the feelings of others, including those of the opposite sex, parents, and children.'

Being 'a good person at work but different at home' is not acceptable; you are told to 'become a truly good person' in both the workplace and at home.

When I was a corporate warrior, even though I valued my family, I never considered the feelings of my wife and children. However, after learning from President Okawa's teachings that 'love is understanding the other person', I began to suppress my self-centered love and consider my family's feelings, thinking about 'the practice of giving love.'

Furthermore, if you think, 'I want to elevate myself' or 'I want to improve my soul', it is important to consider that 'I am influencing everything I am involved in' and to continue to discipline yourself with a more public perspective. I myself am also receiving the Lord's teachings daily and am in the midst of battling my own immaturity.

Moreover, when aiming for self-realization, the motivation of 'what is the purpose of self-realization?' is questioned. Many people strive for their own status and benefits, but that does not cultivate character or virtue. By suppressing selfish desires and establishing aspirations for 'the sake of others' and 'to improve the country and society', aligning your heart with the divine, and continuing to strive, character and virtue will be refined.

In the end, President Okawa said, 'Become a trustworthy person.' I believe that a trustworthy person is 'an honest and sincere person.' It is important to accumulate a heart and actions that are not embarrassing even when viewed from the heavenly realm.
