This month's 'Guidelines for the Heart' presented how to overcome the decline in physical strength that everyone faces as they age. We asked Director Hiroaki Usuda, who has also been in charge of anti-aging training at Happy Science's temples, for practical tips on implementing these guidelines.

Born in 1966 in Nagano Prefecture. Graduated from the Painting Department of the Tokyo University of the Arts. Encountered Ryuho Okawa's teachings while in school and became a monk in 1994. After serving as a senior branch manager, temple director, and deputy director of the Media Culture Bureau, he has held his current position since January 2022.

The Wall of Physical Strength Can Be Overcome

In modern times, life expectancy has increased, and there are decades of life after retirement, leading everyone to encounter the 'wall of physical strength.' In this month's guidelines, Ryuho Okawa pointed out key points for overcoming this wall, such as 'frequent efforts,' 'sense of purpose and mission,' and 'continuously training the mind and body.'

Facing 'aging' is tough, but if the positive mindset weakens with thoughts like 'I'm too old now,' aging accelerates. Rather, let's see it as a good opportunity to reassess and improve our diet and work situation.

Moreover, if the goal becomes simply 'youth,' it can easily turn into 'attachment,' so it's important to consider the motivation behind 'why do I want to be young and healthy.'

At Happy Science, there are many believers who are much younger and more vibrant than their actual age, which I believe is a testament to living each day with a sense of mission to 'make the world a better place,' diligently engaging in work and religious activities, and always receiving the divine light of the gods.

Experiencing 'effects' through the practice of teachings

This is a personal matter, but while I was in charge of anti-aging training at the temple, I revisited and practiced Ryuho Okawa's 'teachings on rejuvenation,' resulting in a weight loss of 7 kilograms and lighter footwork, leading people to say, 'You look younger.'

Ryuho Okawa teaches what he has practiced himself in scriptures such as 'Age-less Success Method open_in_new' and 'Not Aging and Decaying open_in_new'. By learning these and continuing to make even one effort, the power of habit will develop, and results will surely appear through the 'law of cause and effect,' allowing one to truly feel the Buddhist saying, 'The goddess of mercy is already here' mentioned in these guidelines.

Additionally, reading Ryuho Okawa's scriptures and learning the latest teachings is important not only for 'training the mind' but also for gaining wisdom to survive in tough times.
