Living Between the Past and the Future - A Guide to the Heart by Ryuho Okawa 147

(Last Update:

The "Guide to the Heart" written by Ryuho Okawa is serialized in the Happiness of Science pamphlet Monthly 'Happiness of Science'. Branches nationwide also display posters, and it is widely known as the monthly face of the Happiness of Science.
This month's theme is "Living Between the Past and the Future." I asked someone from the Main Temple, Nasu Seija open_in_new about the secret to shining the time called "now" that exists between the past and the future.

What are the "walls" of the past and future?

For us, the "wall of the past" can be said to be the heart that regrets and drags along the experiences of past failures and setbacks.
The "wall of the future" is the pessimism and anxiety that arise from thinking, "What if things don't go well in the future...?"
In other words, it is "carried-over troubles" and "anticipated troubles."
However, if we become too trapped in such negative thoughts, we will not be able to concentrate on what we need to do now.
Every human being is equally given 24 hours a day. Making each day shine is the key to opening up life. The mindset needed for that is very simple.

Two Secrets to Open Up Life

First, regarding past failures and setbacks, it is important to positively view them as "opportunities for my soul to grow" and transform them into nourishment for the heart.
For the future, please envision "dreams" instead of anxiety. Think about what you should do now to make that dream come true, and try to work on it. The divine will assist those who make an effort. Let’s believe in the divine and build wonderful days together.
