Edison (1848 - 1931)
A boy who loved experiments
Edison, known as the 'Wizard of Invention', was a curious child who couldn't help but experiment on anything that piqued his interest. He also loved reading and read almost all the books in the library.
At the age of 12, he decided to earn money to buy his own experimental tools by selling newspapers on the train. There, Edison created and sold an 'original newspaper' that summarized 'information on carriage transfers' that passengers wanted to know. The newspaper quickly became very popular!
"It's important to create things that make people happy!" Edison learned an important lesson for inventors.
On the fast track to becoming an inventor
Once Edison had his own factory, he became so engrossed in experiments that he forgot to eat. Edison continuously created convenient tools, and his name became known worldwide.
I want to make people happy with inventions!
When Edison was 31, he began inventing the light bulb, saying, "I want everyone to be able to live safely and brightly even at night!" At that time, lamps were used, but they were dim and there were many fires caused by lamp flames.
Edison sought the best materials for the light bulb, conducting experiments tirelessly, even sacrificing sleep, with the number of experiments reaching into the thousands. About two years later, he finally completed the world's first light bulb that lasted 200 hours. This news was reported in the newspapers.
After that, Edison made over 1,300 inventions, including the 'Kinetophone', which became the basis for movies, and the 'phonograph', which could record and play sound, making the lives of people around the world more convenient throughout his life.
