[Video] "The Afterlife Exists!" Shocking Interview with a Near-Death Experience Survivor

(Last Update:

The question, "What happens to people when they die?" is something that everyone must have pondered at some point. The testimonies of numerous near-death experiencers who claim to have seen the afterlife provide answers to that question. We interviewed Shinji Matsubara, one of those experiencers and a lecturer at Shikoku Seishinkan open_in_new (at the time of the interview), to discuss what he saw in the near-death experience regarding the "other world."

This article is a detailed version of Matsubara's near-death experience published in the Happiness Science pamphlet "What’s Happiness Science" No. 98.

Q1. When did you have your near-death experience?

Sudden subarachnoid hemorrhage and hospitalization

Matsubara: On the night of May 27, 2014, after finishing work, I was relaxing in the bath at my apartment, thinking, "Well, another day is over," when my head suddenly became heavy...

Since my wife was there, I immediately said, "Call an ambulance, I think something is wrong with my brain." While I was saying this, I vomited everything I had eaten that night, and from there, I lost consciousness. When the emergency team arrived, my pupils were reportedly dilated, and I was in a very dangerous state.

Fortunately, the attending physician at the emergency hospital was a neurosurgeon who said, "You have a subarachnoid hemorrhage. We will operate immediately," so the surgery began a few hours after I collapsed. During the time I was unconscious, I had a near-death experience.

Miraculous recovery, and the doctor said, "I want to present this at a conference"

Matsubara: Miraculously, I regained consciousness three weeks later. About a month later, my fever subsided, and the blood clot in my skull had almost disappeared, allowing me to return to daily life after rehabilitation.

The doctor was so surprised that he said, "It's very rare to recover from such a case without leaving any aftereffects. Can I present this as a successful case at a conference?"

Q2. What was the first scene you saw in the afterlife?

The first thing I saw in the afterlife was a "rural landscape"

Matsubara: When I realized it, I was in a beautiful and peaceful place that looked like a rural countryside. There was also a large building, which I couldn't tell if it was a Happiness Science temple, training facility, or assembly hall, where many people gathered, and I spent a lot of time inside.

Q3. Did you meet the spirits of people you knew?

Reunion with deceased grandparents

Matsubara: I met my grandfather, grandmother, and also my deceased uncles, aunts, and friends who passed away early. I felt like I had met the people I wanted to meet.

Q4. What were the differences between this world and the other world?

Difference 1: When you place your hand on your chest, it passes through

Matsubara: There is a teaching in Happiness Science that says, "When you place your hand on your chest, it won't pass through if it's physical, but it will if it's spiritual," so I thought I would try it. In fact, if I wanted to touch my body, I could touch it.

I thought, "Oh, it has this shape. It's pretty much the same as the physical body," but when I thought, "I should be a spirit now," my hand passed right through my chest.

Difference 2: You don't need to eat or sleep

Matsubara: Also, I think several days passed after I went there, but I was fine without eating or drinking anything. Additionally, "You don't need to sleep," "You don't need to take a bath," "You don't need to wash your face, shave, fix your hair, or adjust your clothes," and so on.

When I thought, "I should tidy myself up," it naturally got tidied up, so there was no need to take a bath. Even if I felt tired, I could regain my energy by receiving energy from the sun in the sky. It was very similar to the sun in this world, but the light of the spiritual sun seemed to permeate my entire soul, revitalizing it.

Difference 3: You can teleport and float in the air

Matsubara: Also, you can do "teleportation". If you think, "I want to go there," and truly visualize it in your heart, you are there in that moment. If I thought, "I want to see that person," in the next moment, I found myself with that person. If I thought, "Can I fly?" I could fly.

Q5. What was it like when spirits appeared and disappeared?

Spirits appear like clouds or mist

Matsubara: Rather than appearing and disappearing suddenly, they appeared in a hazy, cloud-like form, gradually taking shape until I could recognize them as, "Is that my grandfather?" When they disappeared, it was often the same way, gradually fading until they became invisible.

Q6. When people on Earth prayed for healing, what kind of impact did it have over there?

Healing power revitalized the spirit body, and the physical body also recovered

Matsubara: I later heard that many people prayed for my healing, and those people likely appeared before me in a hazy, mist-like form...

As I talked with them, I received energy, and I felt that my spirit self was gradually becoming "full of power and vitality."

In the meantime, my physical body also began to improve under that influence. Specifically, the blood clot in my skull shrank rapidly, was absorbed, my fever subsided, and eventually, I regained consciousness.

Observing the workplace of the spirit responsible for prayers

Matsubara: Thus, I became a "living witness" to the fact that illnesses can actually be cured, and the spirit who guided me said, "Shall we take a look at the workplace of those who are responsible for prayers in this world?" and I went to observe.

What I visited was the workplace of those responsible for the "monthly prayer festival" held at the Happiness Sciencebranch.

There was a round table with about six spirits sitting around it. When prayers were conducted on Earth, a misty, cloud-like substance appeared in the center of the table, and when I saw it, I could "feel and understand" it.

In the monthly prayer festival at the Happiness Science branch, more than ten types of prayers are conducted, including prayers for success, economic prosperity, healing from illness, and exorcism of evil spirits.

What I could "understand" was the feelings, determination, and efforts of the person who prayed, what they wished for, what they wanted to achieve, and what their heart was aiming for. I could also tell whether they were serious or not. When the prayer was fulfilled, I could understand how this person would receive it and what would happen.

In response, the spirits in charge of that place discussed, "What about this? What about that?" and concluded, "Then let's do this," and instructions were given to realize that conclusion.

"In the name of El Cantare, the prayer was conducted. Accordingly, you will be asked to do such and such. Thank you very much," and when such instructions were sent to another department, they responded, "Yes, understood. We will do just that," and everyone moved, which means the prayers are effective.

Prayers are considered in much more detail than we think, and conclusions are drawn in the form that is most appropriate for that person, based on which the spiritual heavenly world moves. Therefore, I believe it is important to pray at crucial times and receive the power of the heavenly world.

Q7. What did you learn in the afterlife?

Realized the kindness and compassion of people

Matsubara: Also, I was told, "Since this is an opportunity, shall we deepen our understanding of love?" and I saw my childhood events reflected in the so-called "Mirror of Reflection".

What I think, what I do, and what actions I take are reflected, but it's not just that; I can somehow understand how people related to me, such as my father, mother, siblings, uncles, and aunts, tried to guide me at that time, how they tried to support me, and what kind of wishes they had when interacting with me, just by looking at the screen.

I can understand how I felt about the events at that time and how those around me were influenced when I said something and took action.

※ The screen of the afterlife that reflects life from birth to death. After death, most people reflect on their lives in the "Mirror of Reflection" after crossing the Sanzu River.

The self and others are connected by the soul.

Matsubara: Furthermore, I was taught that "the connections between people are invisible, but everyone is connected".

"Please pray. Pray for the happiness of the person next to you," I was told, and when I prayed, I realized that the souls of people are connected by a transparent pipe.

There, the energy of love fills and flows into the heart of the other person. This circulates and eventually flows back to me. It is a cycle. I was shown that when you have thoughts of love, they reach the heart of the other person.

Q8. What is the size of the "Mirror of Reflection"?

The completely different "sense of the afterlife".

Matsubara: Even when it comes to the size of things in the spirit world, it doesn't feel like "how many meters using a ruler from the ground." When expressing it, I say, "about this size of the screen..." but when you concentrate and look at the Mirror of Reflection, it feels like everything around you becomes "that time" and "that era."

Q9. Did the spirits (guiding spirits) appear as angels?

They were dressed in dress shirts and slacks.

Matsubara: In my case, they were in "normal attire." I think they dressed to match me. I was in a dress shirt and slacks, and they were dressed similarly. I think some people might appear in different attire.

Q10. What was the most impressive scene you saw in the afterlife?

Spirits helping the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Matsubara: In the afterlife, there is also a gathering called Prayer Meeting, and I attended it. There are people who died in the Great East Japan Earthquake and are still wandering on the ground, so the spirits were praying for their guidance. I was shown the scene where the "rescue team" was descending to the ground to guide them.

What is necessary to guide the "wandering spirits"?

Matsubara: I heard reports when those people returned, and they said, "It is very difficult to guide those who had no connection to religion on the ground, those who did not believe in the afterlife at all, and those who were convinced that death was the end.

No matter what you say, they feel like 'they are trying to deceive me. They have some ulterior motive to take me to a strange place and do something bad,' and they completely refuse to listen and just argue, saying, 'I am not dead. I am alive,' so there is no way to guide them."

"So it's better to have some kind of trigger while you are alive. If you have seen even a little bit of the cover of the Happy Science pamphlet, received an invitation to Tokyo Dome, or watched a movie, then you can say, 'You saw that flyer at that time, right? You saw that newspaper advertisement, right?' and from there, you can start a conversation, but if there is no trigger at all, there is no way to guide them,” they said.

Therefore, it is important for various people to have some kind of "connection".

Q11. What is the "sense of time" in the afterlife?

Time in the afterlife cannot be measured by a clock.

Matsubara: I think time and space are a world where the ruler from the ground is completely unreliable. However, it seems that there was a mechanism where you could find out "what month, what day, and what time it is on the ground" if you inquired. In the afterlife, time can feel long if it feels long and short if it feels short, so it seems that the time of the ground's clock does not apply at all.

Q12. Has your view of life and the world changed after this near-death experience?

The "appreciation of the ground" from the afterlife.

Matsubara: My recognition of the preciousness and value of this world deepened. The afterlife is a "world of thoughts" where you are with people who are comfortable and familiar with you. You don't often spend time with people from different worlds.

However, in this world, there are various experts from different fields, and those people can all live together in the same world and refine each other. Moreover, "you can meet people with high states of mind that you cannot meet in the afterlife,” I think is the preciousness of the ground.

Various incidents and dramas happen on the ground, but there are also things that happen "because it is the ground," and naturally, there are things to learn from there.

Through the near-death experience, I feel that the meaning of events on the ground has deepened. What I used to think was "unpleasant" has become clear that "it is actually a precious thing,” and what I thought was "normal" has become apparent from the afterlife's perspective as "a precious training ground, a valuable experience ground.”

Q13. Based on this experience, what do you want to do in the future?

The mission conveyed.

Matsubara: I remember the last words from the spirit who was in charge of guiding me.

"A new mission has begun. You have been given a divine mission to extend your lifespan to about 90 years and continue to speak the truth centered on this experience. Please fulfill that divine mission until the end and run through your life on the ground," I was told, and then I returned to my physical body.

I also want to think about my way of being based on such spiritual truths, and I want to increase the number of people who can reflect on their lives in that way. In my case, I was fortunate to have this kind of experience, so I hope to share it with various people and increase those who live a true life.
